Ministry Objectives of the NBCA....

The National Baptist Convention of America, Incorporated in its present status traces its origin to the formation of three Baptist groups; The Foreign Mission Baptist Convention of the United States (1880), the American National Baptist Convention (1886), and the Baptist National Educational Convention (1993). The three bodies met in the Friendship Baptist Church (Atlanta, Georgia) in 1895 to unify the mission cause (domestic and abroad), foster the cause of education, and promote the publication and circulation of religious literature. The result of this meeting was the emergence of the new organization under the name The National Baptist Convention of the United States of America.

In 1915, a controversy developed over a charter of incorporation and the ownership of the National Baptist Publishing Board which was the organ for the publication and circulation of religious literature. The result was the emergence of two separate conventions; the National Baptist Convention of America (unincorporated) and the National Baptist Convention, USA, Incorporated.

For seventy-two (72) years, the National Baptist Convention of America (unincorporated) continued its overall objective of home and foreign mission, fostering education, and promoting the publication and circulation of religious literature. On March 11, 1987 the National Baptist convention of America, an aggregate fellowship of 5000 voluntary churches approximating two and a half million African American Baptists, was officially incorporated as a non-profit corporation in the Parish of Caddo, City of Shreveport, State of Louisiana under the provisions of R. S. 1950, Title 12, Chapter 2, as amended
